FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: FIRST NATIONAL, NON THERAPEUTIC LEADERSHIP PROGRAM FOR ADD
ADOLESCENTS TO LAUNCH COLUMBUS DAY WEEKEND 2009; PROFESSIONAL COMMUNITY
STANDS BEHIND LOUISE LEVIN, M.Ed L.M.F.T, FOUNDER. CAMP VACAMAS: WEST MILFORD,
NJ: The global economy is shifting once again. We are moving from the
age of information technology to the age of entrepreneurialism, and
the ADD community is fecund with entrepreneurs. ADD Student Leadership
(www.addstudentleadership.org) will provide students with management,
motivation, team building, risk assessment, self-reliance and leadership
skills all integral to the entrepreneurial process. “Industry leaders, from Richard
Branson to Warren Buffet, are all now financing programs for young entrepreneurs,
providing them with an opportunity to realize their talent,” says
Louise Levin, founder of ADD Student Leadership. “While the ADD community
has challenges that are indigenous to their population they are some
of our most imaginative minds. Our program is going to alert these
students to what those challenges are, get them to both own and take
responsibility for them, and then provide them with the tools to realize
their potential. We don’t want this rich vein to go untapped.” “I have been working
with the ADD/ADHD community for over 25 years, and I have anticipated
a program like ADD Student Leadership for some time,” says Dr. Ned
Hallowell, author of the bestselling book “Driven to Distraction”
and leading ADD/ADHD authority. “The Student Leadership team is tapping
into a community of adolescents that have exceptional leadership and
entrepreneurial qualities that, too often, go unnoticed, unchallenged
and untrained. It’s time we gave these natural born leaders the skills
to actively participate in leading us successfully through the 21st
century.” The Student Leadership Program
will select 20 ADD students, recommended by youth advocates, reputed
organizations and parents of ADD/ADHD children, who have demonstrated
exceptional leadership potential. Once selected, they will participate
in our 4-day, non-therapeutic leadership training and wilderness survival
program. The program is comprised of
a team of professionals, including Robert Pruitt, designer of the leadership
component of the National Student Leadership Conference. Joining him
are Simon Harrison, the youth leader of Tom Brown’s Wilderness Survival
and Tracking Program, and Peter Montminoy, PhD author and counselor
whose practice is devoted to ADD adolescents. Prior to becoming the founder
of the ADD Student Leadership Program, Ms. Levin was responsible for
creating and running all public relations and marketing initiatives
for Chase Manhattan’s Private International Bank, worldwide.
After leaving Chase, she was a corporate coach to the tech industry
through her own firm, Louise Levin Associates. Ms. Levin holds graduate
degrees in both education and marriage and family therapy, and is licensed
in both Connecticut and New York. She lives and works in Westport, CT
and has 24 year old ADD/ADHD twins. Contact: Natalie Fasano Email:
